ID Noon at Ngayon

Ito ang aking School ID. Isa yan sa mga highlight ng college life ko. 

Technically, hindi na 'yan valid pero mula ng bumalik ako sa PUP, masaklap mang sabihin, 'yan pa rin ang ginagamit ko para makapasok sa gate. Buti nalang at hindi naman tinititigang mabuti ng mga sekyu ang ID ko dahil tiyak na maakusaahan akong gumagamit ng ID ng iba pag nagkataon. Makailang beses din nakwestyon ang aking pagkatao dahil sa ID na 'yan. Minsang ginamit ko 'to para kumuha ng pera sa LBC, nakipagtalo pa ko sa counter para lang makumbinsi na ako nga ang nasa picture at valid pa rin ang ID dahil iyon ang ginagamit ko sa school. Nagkataon namang aware ang taga LBC sa bagong ID ng PUP kaya pinagpawisan pa ko para lang mai-release ang pera. Nung araw na iyon kase, nawawala ko ang Postal ID na lagi kong gamit sa money transffer kaya napilitan akong ipaglaban ang aking dakilang PUP ID.

Minsan ko na ring ginusto ng bagong ID noong nakaraang first sem kaya nagpa-Lost ID ako sa student services ng paaralan. Iyon lang kasi ang tanging paraan para magkaroon ng bago at validated na ID. Pero para ka palang nahuli ng MMDA kapag magpapa-issue ng duplicate ID. Gagawa ka ng letter na nagso-sorry ka sa pagkawala, affidavit na totoong nawawala ang ID, papipirmahan sa guardian o parent, sa dean o chairperson, magbabayad ng penalty fee, then magpapa-sign sa legal office ng school, tapos sa guidance office, at ang huli ay balik sa Student Services, bago ka palang makakapag-pa-picture. But wait! There's more! Hindi ko pa nabanggit ang community service na ire-render mo ng mga 4 na oras.

May tatlong misteryo ang lumang ID na yan:

Ang Picture. Ilang pang-aalispusta at pagyurak ng aking pagkatao na ang naransan ko dahil sa picture ko sa ID. Haha. Pero kahit naman ako, ganon din ang opinyon. Huggard kasi ang proseso ng enrolment dati. World-record sa pagpapa-pila ang PUP. Pila dito, pila doon at akyat-baba sa mga hagdan. Nang turn ko na para magpapicture, nakaaway ko pa yung nasa likuran ko sa pila sa hindi ko na matandaang dahilan. Kaya yung pagkabadtrip ko sa kanya ay nagreflect sa picture. Dati ang background ng picture ay ang kulay ng college na eenrolan, taliwas ngayon na lahat ay white backgound na at wala na ring pangalan na hahawakan para magmukha kang wanted. At payat talaga ako dati. Mahirap nang idescribe yun.

Ang Student Number. Hanggang ngayon na graduating na ko, hindi ko pa rin alam kung ano ang tamang student number ko. Sa ID, 2K4-021935-1 pero ang lumalabas sa mga registration cards ko ay 2k4-021935-6. Hindi na ko narin ako nag-exert ng effort para alamin pa kung ano ang tama, hindi naman daw magiging malaking problema yun. Sabi lang.

Ang Barcode. Actually, si Noel na graduate ng IT sa school, ang nag-emphasize nyan sa kin. Ano nga ba ang barcode na makikita sa ilalim ng ID? Ito ba yung sistema para ma-validate kung authentic nga ang ID mo at hindi gawang Recto? Sabi ni Noel, diyan daw malalaman yung presyo mo pag pina-scan mo sa SM. 

6 year na pagbabago.

Oo, marami nang napagdaanang pagsubok, pighati, pag-aalispusta at deskriminasyon ang luma kong ID mula sa mga kaklase ko, kachurch, katrabaho, kunduktor ng bus at jeep o ng taga LBC. Pero kahit gayun pa man, matayog pa rin ito. Matibay. Hindi natutuklap. Hindi kumukupas. Hindi na-Ondoy. Minsan nang nasama sa bag na nasnatch noong 2nd year ko, pero binalik naman sa kin makalipas ang tatlong araw. Proud ako sa ID na yan.

Bagong ID ng iskolar ng bayan.

Ngayon, mas madali ang proseso ng pagkuha ng bagong ID. Hindi ka na gagawa ng anumang letter or magrerender ng community service. Tamang papirma nalamang sa mga kailangang tao at konting tyaga para makapila at makapagpa-picture sa limited edition na ICT na first 30 students lang ang pwedeng picturan kada MWF. At hanggang ngayon, ang bagong lay-out ng PUP ID, may barcode pa rin.

ABS-CBN's Hadji Rieta Now A Kapuso

Hindi lang sa mga celebrity uso ang pagtawid bakod from their previous TV network to another. This phenomenon also happens even with the serious people of News and Public Affairs: Mel Tiangco, who's from ABS to GMA News. Erwin Tulfo from ABS to TV5, Aljo Bendijo from ABS to IBC 13, Karen Davila from GMA to ABS, Cheryl Cossim from ABS to TV5, and more. That is why considering these cases, it is not surprising to know what Al Hadjie Rieta did.

Al Hadjie Rieta is a former News Anchor of TV Patrol Laoag of ABS-CBN Northern Luzon. I met Al Hadj at the 1st I-witness Docuseminar held in SM Megamall on 2008 when he was still a student of Mass Communication in Northwestern University. Undeniably, he is a smart, dynamic and a proactive person.

I can remember him talking to almost everybody in the event. He was very active with the discussions and interactive activities prepared by the I-witness hosts. You can see his energy and passion towards news and public affairs, that's why it wasn't a surprise for me to see him on a regional TV doing a live news telecast. 

On an interview with Media Newser Philippines, a leading weblog delivering news and opinions about the Philippine TV News, Al Hadj said that GMA had offered him an oppurtunity to be a national reporter. He said,

"I transferred to GMA-7 because there was an opportunity for me to be a national reporter. Lahat naman pangarap ito kaya when I learned na puwede I grabbed it already. ABS-CBN did offered me a national job, but I have to wait, eh ang GMA-7 ito na inaantay lang ako na mag-yes."

 He added that he initially tried to apply in GMA News, so as I supposed, it wasn't really hard for him to accept the offer since it appears that his first interest belongs to Kapuso Network. His facebook became clamoured with different opinions from his "followers" about his decision in changing his news tribe. One of them posted,

"Sana hinintay nlang niya na mging national reporter s ABS-CBN..tama si ma'am eli, ang mga Pinoy 'd mrunong mkontento. Palipat-lipat gaya ng mga artista. Ba't di nila kyang mghintay? Suportahan nlang natin siya. He is an anchor/reporter in TV Patrol Ilocos and an Iglesia Ni Cristo member. "

When he was asked about working with the rival network ABS, he said,

"Nandun yung pakiramdam na nahihiya ka kasi siyempre sila yung unang nag-train sayo, pero ganun talaga eh. I compete sa trabaho naman, not personally."

I'm lucky Al Hadj granted me a brief interview this evening about joining the Kapuso News Team.

Anong masasabi mo sa opinyon ng ilang tao na ang paglipat mo  from ABSCBN Laog to GMA News ay pagpapakita raw ng kawalan ng utang na loob?

Sa totoo nga napaka thankful ako sa ABS-CBN dahil ang laki ng itinulong nila para ma build ako. Nakakalungkot lang kasi sinasabi ng iba na walang utang na loob, hindi naman siguro ganoon, from the start naman the management (ABS-CBN Laoag) always reminds us na kung sa tingin namin e gusto namin mag grow i infrom lang namin sila, that's what I did and they gave me that chance.

What was the initial reaction of ABS-CBN team when you told them that you will be transferring to GMA news?

Nandun yung initial reaksyon na medyo dissappointed pero kalaunan they told me naman na they do respect my decision at masaya sila doon.

Paano or kamusta ang naging adjustment mo on working with the former rival news team?

I never thought naman na rival station eh, kasi sa Laoag, ang TV Patrol ang nangunguna when it comes to newscast, so sa akin parang wala naman, kasi nga hindi naman masyadong ramdan doon sa amin yung competion with other TV networks (ABS-CBN - TV5).

Anong blessing or advantage ang dumating sayo in going to Kapuso Network? How about challenges?

Siguro masasabi kong blessing yung natupad yung isa sa mga pangarap ko to be a national reporter at GMA7 pa. The challenges would be yung takbo ng buhay dito sa Manila, I always naghahabol sa oras, yung parang napaka bilis ng oras dito. Although nakakasabay naman.

Whats new with Hadji now that he's a Kapuso News Correspondent?

New, siguro expect na maging mas mature pa ako sa trabaho.

Well, I don't see anything wrong from what he did. As one of the young individuals in the news and public affairs industry, it is still better to get the oppurtunity while it lasts. The "utang na loob" thing from the people who had helped you gain more knowledge and skills to do the job better should not be an objectional reason to accomplish higher goal and to step up. 


Afterall I think, Al hadj did his job very well while he's on the fences of  ABS-CBN, so the Kapamilya news team has nothing to object on his choice of leaving from what he can consider as training ground in the actual field.

He added on my interview:

Sana yung mga nagsasabi ng hindi maganda or kung meron man, sana maintindihan nila. Ulitin ko, hindi naman ito isang kawalan ng utang na loob it's just that isa itong career movement.

Al Hadj envisions to be a part of the I-witness team in the next 5 years. His network debut at GMA Network happened last Friday, June 24 at 24 Oras. You can also see him on other GMA Newscast such as Balitanghali on NewsTV.

Actually, maraming kanta na may non-sense na lyrics. Hindi ko makakalimutan yung lyrics na "Ooohh, you touch my tralala... my ding-ding-dong.." (Ding-ding-dong by Gunther and the sunshine girls)". Click here for the video.

Kaya in some way hindi na rin masama ang kanta ni Rebecca Black na Friday kung saan umaani ng limpak-limpak na dislike (almost 5K dislikes vs 1500+ like to date) ang music video sa YouTube. Una kong napanood ang portion ng MV nito sa isa sa mga episodes ng WOTL. At ngayon ko lang tuluyang napanood ng buo.

Nakakapraning. Haha.

Okay naman. Hindi na masama. Sa wikang konyo, uhh, its not bad at all. Pero hindi ko ma-gets kung paano sila nakapag produce ng ganong production na ang lyrics ng kanta ay di ko alam kung biktima ba ng Friday the 13th ang gumawa.

THE GOLDEN VOICE. Kung feeling mo eh boses vagina na si Britney Spear sa Oops I Did It Again, wait wait wait. Dahil may bago nang magmamana ng korona.

BACKSEAT OR FRONT SEAT? Sa lyrics, wit ko magetlak kung bakit nalito si Rebecca Black kung saan siya uupo sa car, kung sa backseat or frontseat eh samantalang isa lang naman ang vacant seat na pinakita sa video, at yun ay sa backseat.

BORN AGAIN FINALE. Usually kasi pag partey-partey, nasa loob ng club with patay-sinding light and unkabogable na sounds. Pero sa finale ng Friday ni Rebecca, napag desisyunan nilang mag partey sa park sa ilalim ng puno na parang grupo ng mga born again christian. Uhh, its not bad at all.

After all, Friday is still okay. Its all about a wholesome teenage fun. Not bad kung ico-compare kay Gaga sa kanyang "Judas, juda-a-asss".

Ang Irregular Student

Oo, tapos na ang unang linggo ng pasukan. At nakakapagod yun. 

Ngayon ko lang napagtanto na mas nakakapagod palang mag-aral kapag kaunti lang ang subjects dahil sa kailangan mong pumunta sa eskwela para sa tatlong oras lamang na klase. Minsan kung mamalasin eh wala pang prof na darating (pero ang pag-absent ng prof ay madalas isang biyaya).

Nagsimula na ang aking buhay IRREGULAR STUDENT. Ayon sa student handbook:

7.2.2 Irregular student: one who is registered for formal credits but who carries less than the full load required in a given semester by his curriculum.

Last batch of Manual Enrollment

Ibigsabihin, ang kahit sinong estudyante na may units enrolled na mas mababa pa sa kanyang nakatakdang curriculum ay Irregular. Parang regla lang di ba. Ibig sabihin, hindi ka normal na estudyente. Ibigsabihin, petix. Pero madalas, dalawa lang ang klasipikasyon ng estudyanteng irregular: Isang tinamad at isang biktima ng kapalaran.

Ang Tinamad na Irregular ay isang irregular na kaya naging iregular ay dahil mas inuna ang rampa, ang dota, ang jowa, o kaya ay ang nongga. Ito yung mga naiwan ng mga kabatch na nag graduate na dahil may mga subjects pang naiwan na kung hindi singko ang nakuha, ay dropped, incomplete, or withdraw. Pero hindi naman sila bobo. Tinamad lang sila. Pwede naman yata yun. Ito yung mga ganado mag extend pa ng buhay sa paaralan at nae-enjoy pa buhay estudyante at nakaka discount pa rin sa bus o jeep.

Ang Irregular na Biktima ng Kapalaran ay mga irregular na estudyante na biktima lang naman talaga ng tadhana. Ito yung mga shiftees, transferees at returning students na may naiwan ding units dahil hindi sila pinayagang mag-overload nung mga nagdaang sem, o di kaya'y sinadya nilang wag munang kunin lahat o kaya nama'y may problema pa sa mga subjects na na-take na.

Isa ako sa huli. Curriculum 2001 ang gamit na curriculum sa Advertising and Public Relations nang pumasok ako sa Sintang Paaralan nung 2004. Pansamantala kong iniwan ang pagiging iskolar ng bayan para sa isang religious purpose noong 2006. Oha. Makalipas ang dalawang taon, muli kong binalikan ang PUP para magpatuloy bilang 3rd year student gamit ang bagong Curriculum 2006. At dahil loyal ako sa section na 1N, sa 3-1N ng SY 09-10 ako napabilang at tinawag ang klase na 1NightStands - isang makulay, magulo at masayang klase ng BAPR.

Ngayon, graduate na sila. May mga may raket na, at mayroon pa ring patuloy ang paghahanap. At may mga ilan pa ring naiwan sa 4th floor, west wing bilang Irreg.

Hindi biro maging irreg. Dahil niluma na ng panahon ang dating curriculum, napalitan na to  noong 2006. Ibigsabhin, may mga bagong unit na nadagdag. May ilang subjects narin akong kinuha mula sa ibang klase kahit enrolled ako sa 1N na block section, pero ang mga klaseng 'yon ay sa loob lang ng BAPR Dept para hindi na rin mahirap makisama at hindi rin mawala ang grade sheet. Ngayon, iba ang kaso. May tatlong subjects ako ngayon. Tatlong klase. Tatlong period. Tatlong grupo ng mga estudyante na hindi ko kilala. Total stranger kumbaga. 

Ang una ay sa AB History under ng subject na Rizal. Nito ko lang nalaman na mayroon palang ganung kurso sa peyups nung unang beses na pumasok ako sa kanila. Mahigit pitong irreg kami doon dahil ang naunang free section para sa nasabing subject ay nadissolved at tanging ang klase lang nila ang may offered ng subject na swak naman para sa mga graduating ngayong October. Naisip ko lang kung ano nga ba ang magiging trabaho ng mga AB History in the future. At infairness, magagaling sila magtagalog. Malalim. Lalo yung prof namin dun na parang naliligo na sa pawis pero keber lang siya, napakahusay makipagtalastasan.

Pangalawang period ko ay tatlong oras mula sa una kong subject. Kasama ko naman ang mga maiingay at kasinggulo ng BAPR na Marketing students, under ng MicroEco subject. Akala ko nga walang offered na MicroEco, muntik ko nang i-tutorial, kung saan kung graduating ka, babayaran mo ang tuition ng buong klase (aroung 4K) para makuha lang ang subject kapag hindi offered. Matapos akong pagpasa-pasahan ng College of Economics at CCMIT, nahanap ko din ang sked sa Dept of Marketing. Mukhang hindi naman sila mahirap pakisamahan dahil kasing aktibo din sila ng BAPR sa klase. Hindi nagkakalayo ng ugali. Yun nga lang, 57 kami. Masikip na. Nang unang beses akong pumasok dun, naabutan kong maingay ang klase, pero nang makita nila akong papalapit sa pinto, biglang silang tumahimik at nagsipanhik sa upuan. Parang nakakatawa na nakakabastos. Hahaha. Mayroon din akong 3 kasamang irreg  na puro babae.

Ang huling klase ko ay sa BAPR na, at kinatatakutan ko sa lahat -ang Math of Investment. Matagal kong pinagdasal na sana petix lang ang prof. Pero mukhang hindi sinagot ang aking dasal. Masipag at medyo terror na prof from PLM ang dumating na prof sa pangalawang araw ng klase. Napalunok nalang ako ng sabihin niya ang magiging sistema ng subject. Goodluck talaga. Tatlo kaming irreg sa subject na pawang mga taga BAPR din.

Sa ngayon, mayron pa rin akong isang subject na ipapa-credit. Naway, maapruban para hindi ko na i-take. Ayon sa kabatch kong nag returning din, inapprove naman ang subject na yun sa ibaba (ARO) pero hindi sa college of science. Cross finger pa rin ako.

At ito ang unang linggo ng pagiging irreg. Mas madalas ang pag-iisa. Mas madalas na pagkakamalang prof. Sana lang ito na ang huling sem sa Sintang Paaralan.

Kasambuhay Habambuhay

At last, kahit walang tulog at sunod-sunod ang naging mga pagrampa ngayong weekend, natuloy pa rin ang ultimate experience ngayong Saturday! 

Kasama si friendshipJeremiah (who's on his way to Saudi next week) and Makito (a newly returned missionary), our feet were off to SM Megamall for the KASAMBUHAY HABAMBUHAY: A Short Film anthology, as part of the centennial celebration of Nestle Philippines.

Matao sa mega dahil Independence Day Sale din. Partida pa dahil 2 oras palang ang tulog namin ni maia. Quarter to 6PM ng makarating kami sa cinema lobby at mahaba na ang linya ng mga taong all set para sa 7:05 screening. So hindi na surprising ang dami ng tao na naghihintay. Sa may table ng ticket reception naka post ang..Ticket distribution for 9:30 screening will start on 7:30

Pero kahit ganun, makulit pa rin ang mga tao dahil paulit-ulit pa rin silang nagtatanong tungkol sa ticket at sa susunod na oras ng screening. Dahil kailangan pa namin mag-antay ng 7:30, sinamantala muna namin ang free taste ng Coco Cruch, nakadalawang round din ang mga patay gutom. Hehe.

Ilang saglit pa ang lumipas, pinalad kaming palihim na bigyan ng tatlong ticket ng isang babaeng staff. Akala namin noong una ay para sa 9:30 pa yun, hindi pala dahil ang ticket na inabot nya kay maia ay para sa 7:05 screening.

Hindi kami binigo ng sampung short films na tig-sampung minuto bawat isa. Sympre, hindi mawawala ang Nestle products sa bawat short film, nagpapakita ng role ng Nestle sa buhay ng Pilipino. Astig ang production quality ng mga shorts. Astig din ang stories at “magnificent” ang performances ng mga artists. Ilang bigating artista ang kinuha ng Nestle sa bawat film which is good dahil pasok sa banga ang casting. Ang iba naman ay pamilyar na mukha na sa industriya ng indie and short film, o di kaya naman ay suki na ng Cinamalaya. Kapansin-pansin ang pagka-energetic ng mga viewers mula palang sa unang short na kinatampukan ni Ms. Comedy Icon Eugene Dominggo sa The Howl & the Fussyket. Nasa likuran naman namin ang isa sa mga gumanap sa "Cooking Mo, Cooking Ko" na tawa din ng tawa sa mga pinaggagawa niya. Nakadagdag pa sa mabagsik na cinamatography ang pagiging digital theater ng cinema 3, ibig sabihin, hindi film ang gamit na medium, kundi digital format.

TINGALA SA BABA - Henry Frejas

This satire film shows a very simple story yet upholds a very powerful message. Natuwa ako sa mga batang gumanap dito. Natural ang arte. Para bang walang camera sa paligid. Excellent cinamatography din. Even the soundtrack speaks for the story. Medyo pumalya lang sa continuity ng sinag ng araw which is somehow a typical challenge sa outdoor shoot. Pero sa pangkalahatan, ang pag-uusap ng mayamang bata at mahirap na bata sa gitna ng kanilang "common ground" ay matalinong konsepto ng short film. Wish ko lang tinamaan ang mga "rich kids".

OH! PARA SA TA U WA YEAH! - Jeorge Agcaoli

Gusto ko to because of its charm and music. I love musical films. And I know how hard it is to make a musical film. And how hard it is to shoot sa isang uma-andar na vehicle. Nice naman dahil the editing is seems to be very perfect and subtle. Ang istorya ng Nestea Iced Tea TVC campaign ay well-established na, and it gave a good advantage to catch the hearts of the audience in putting it into a short film masterpiece. 

The best line? Interesting ka daw sabi ng ate ko, tulad nitong book ko (Jillian holding a children's book). -Haha

SILUP - Jun Reyes

Nagustuhan ko ang SILUP dahil una, ang kabuoan ng istorya ay nasa dulong lahat. Pakiramdam ko, ang buong kwento ay nasa huling tatlong minuto ng pelikula. Pangalawa, nakipagtitigan ako sa kaisa-isang eksena ni Ms. Gloria Diaz. Higit 2 minuto din siyang hindi kumurap. Palantandaan ng kanyang kahusayang walang kupas.

DOWNTOWN - Stephen Ngo

Katulad ng SILUP, paglalaruan din ng DOWNTOWN ang paniniwala mo sa mahabang panahon at pagkatapos sa dulo ay tila ba biktima ka ng maling akala. Ang popular na tawag dun ay twist. Isang kapansinpansin na kapangyarihan ng DOWNTOWN ay ang pagpapamalas nitong gawing tila ba matiwasay at malamig na lugar ang China Town. At ang huling dayalogo sa dulo na, "tara na, uwi na tayo," ang bumuo sa kwento. Kudos para kay Stephen Ngo, na hindi ko kilala.

Actually, hindi ko namalayan na tapos na ang 100 minutes. Nakakaaliw. Sa maiikling kwento, pang matagalang epekto ang dala. Iba na talaga ang marketing strategy ngayon. 

CSP: Philippine Red Cross Shelter Project

As part of the National Day of Service celebration, latter-day saints of the Antipolo Philippine Stake spent the whole Saturday  to Philippine Red Cross Shelter Assistance Project in Teresa Rizal. The event aims to provide help and assistance to local people working to build their own houses at no expense on their part. Over 200 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ( known as Mormons) volunteered to this historic event. 

APRIL 16, 2011 - It was a bright and sunny Saturday, merely perfect for a summer getaway. But my friends and I have something more important else to do. We just thought its the better way to jump start the Summer Vacation in a very productive way. Weeks earlier, our ward Bishop announced our National Day of Service project, and the first thing that came in our minds, (or maybe just me, hehe), oh well its another day of cutting wild grasses, cleaning a dirty street (which will get soiled again after an hour) or just taking away old electoral posters along highways. But no, this time it sounded quite interesting. Its not because young adults are expected to join the service project so they can join the upcoming Young Single Adults Camp this May, but when our Bishop discussed what we will be having as our community service, it got more inviting. =)


Philippine National Red Cross is a premier humanitarian organization in the country committed to provide quality life-saving services that protect the life and dignity especially of indigent Filipinos in vulnerable situations. Leaders of the Antipolo Philippine Stake have worked with PNRC to provide one day of volunteer activity to help the local people of the shelter site build their own community. 

The site is located in Teresa Rizal, about 2 kilometers from the interior national road, with short-cut to Cogeo lower Antipolo as said by people living there. Obviously, the place is far from landmarks and business establishment. We even had difficulty in our network reception. The people who lives in the site are victims of typhoon Ondoy, Pepeng and Santi, 3 of the most destructive typhoons in 2009. These families are randomly selected from their previous address once a cluster (an area with 10 single detach shelters) is completed. Most the workers in the site, as I've discovered, are being paid Php 150 per day along with the hope of owning a shelter for their families. That is, you dont literally work for your own house, like what Gawad-Kalinga do. You build houses for other families so once your names are chosen you would have your own house previously built by other workers. Its like a post-paid or pre-paid scenario. The job to build a house is tough, not a joke from whatever point.

The event lasted until afternoon. A representative from Philippine Red Cross gave a meaningful message to the rest of the volunteers after the service. The National Day of Service is a social welfare project of the Church's 50th Year Jubilee Celebration this coming April 30 at Araneta Center. Broadcast of the celebration will be available via satellite on selected Stake and District Centers nationwide. Approach a mormon friend if you're interested to see this historic event.
